Delegate workshop Registration is open!
Greetings everyone!
It is my pleasure to formally invite you to Berkeley Model United Nations’ Delegate Workshop held on Saturday, 11 October 2025. Our Delegate Workshop is an insightful and free opportunity to learn vital Model UN and public speaking skills to excel directly from our accomplished Secretariat on the UC Berkeley campus.
Delegates can choose between four different courses in small group settings (referred to as committees) - Novice (GA), Advanced (GA), Crisis, and Chair Training - where they will learn and apply key skills that will help them succeed in conferences and beyond.
The day will be split into 4 sessions. In the first session, delegates will learn rules of procedure, public speaking tips, and their respective committees’ curriculum. In the second session, they will partake in workshops to practice research, speeches, resolution writing and directive writing. These workshops provide the opportunity to apply such skills in the context of our chosen topic; for example, delegates will practice giving speeches and writing resolutions as if they were in a committee on the topic. We will then have a topic lecture for the delegates, which will be the basis for the simulations that will occur during the third session. Our third and fourth session conclude the day with a simulation on the aforementioned topic that enables delegates to apply the skills they learned into real-life practice. Note that there will be short breaks between the first and second session as well as the third and fourth session, and that there will be a lunch break between the second and third session.
Additionally, BMUN will also provide delegates with country assignments and profiles if they are in a GA committee, and character assignments and profiles if they are in a crisis committee. Delegates will also receive further resources and topic fact sheets so that they can apply their learnings during the simulation. Note that position papers are not required for this event.
We will also hold an advisor meeting during which the advisors of participating schools will have the opportunity to meet one another, as well as the BMUN Secretariat.
You may register for the event by filling out the required form and putting down the appropriate deposit, which will be returned if the delegate attends DW. I look forward to seeing you in October!
Sincerely,
Nadine Kei Inara
