General Assembly
Head Chair: Chloe Kubeldis | ckubeldis@bmun.org
Topics: Cambodia’s Path to Justice and Reconstruction + Confronting Government Corruption in South Sudan
This committees will tackle two deeply significant global challenges. The first explores Cambodia’s path to justice and reconstruction after the Khmer Rouge, focusing on transitional justice, rebuilding institutions, and the lingering effects of genocide on society and politics. The second examines corruption in South Sudan, analyzing its historical roots, impact on governance and humanitarian crises, and potential reforms to strengthen institutions and accountability. Together, these topics will push you to think critically about how nations confront painful pasts and systemic challenges while striving for justice, stability, and sustainable futures.
Founding FatherS Committee
Head Chair: Kayla Delgado | kdelgado@bmun.org
The Founding Fathers Crisis Committee begins in 1775, immediately after the battles of Lexington and Concord, when revolution is no longer avoidable. Delegates will confront challenges such as scarce resources, foreign diplomacy, and the threat of betrayal, with every decision having the potential to alter the course of the war. This committee will push you to think quickly and adapt as you play a decisive role in shaping the fight for independence.
The Berlin Blockade
Head Chair: Tanvi Munjeti | tmunjeti@bmun.org
This committee will simulate the Berlin Blockade crisis, beginning on June 24, 1948, when Soviet forces sealed all land and water routes to West Berlin, cutting off over 2 million residents from essential supplies. With limited food and 6 weeks of coal reserves remaining, delegates must navigate the Soviet challenge to Western presence in Germany since the second ended. The Allied leaders must choose between abandoning Berlin and risking military confrontation with the Soviets. As delegates, you will be representing key figures from both sides, working on a way to navigate this crisis diplomatically or ultimately going to war.
The New Culture Movement: May Fourth Protests
Head Chair: Yoga Weng | yweng@bmun.org
This committee will take place amidst China's May Fourth Movement, an early twentieth-century protest movement driven by students and intellectuals' frustration with the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, China's continuous subjection to Western imperialism, and the declining socioeconomic conditions of the country. Set at a juncture of historical rupture from the past, the May Fourth generation sought to reinvent the country into a "new China" linguistically, culturally, and structurally, setting the tone for the later rise of the Chinese Communist Party and the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949. As they progress through this kind of revolutionary moment, delegates will be tasked with exploring the forms political action takes, as well as considering how the political momentum of a student movement might be channelled into broader societal change.
Futuristic Crisis: UN Convention on the Post Climate Collapse of 2090
Head Chair: Nitya Narasimhan | nnarasimhan@bmun.org
Disastrous climate events have transpired over the past 25 years, from extreme sea level rise to rapid glacier melt. Current efforts to curb the effects of climate change and adapt to the new environment have not been successful and countries all over the world are suffering social, cultural, and economic losses. This committee, set in 2040, explores the implications of the climate collapse and debates unique mitigation and adaptation steps to be taken.
Reconstruction of Ukraine after 2022 Invasion
Head Chair: Lesya Terpeluk | lterpeluk@bmun.org
The year is 2027, and the Russo-Ukrainian war has ended. In this crisis committee, delegates will navigate ceasefire negotiations with Russia while simultaneously designing the reconstruction of a devastated country. Should Ukraine prioritize refugees, energy, agriculture, or EU accession — and who gets to decide? With activists, oligarchs, mayors, and world leaders at the table, this committee’s agenda will be full of high-stakes clashes of interest.
Science R&D: Race for the Cure
Head Chair: Taylor Chan | tchan@bmun.org
As the defunding crisis begins to heighten, Plague X has erupted. With scarce funds and a new threat emerging, it is up to Science R&D to find a cure. Science R&D must work together or apart to find the cure!
