About Alumni Scholarship
Dear Prospective Applicant,
As a non-profit organization on the UC Berkeley campus, Berkeley Model United Nations (BMUN) remains committed to continuing its seven decades of excellence as the world’s premier — and very first — Model UN conference. Over 2,000 students attend the conference every year to improve their public speaking and policy debate skills.
The BMUN Secretariat and Alumni are dedicated to providing financial aid to students who cannot, or struggle to afford to attend the conference. Individual delegates can apply for this assistance to help with the costs of attending BMUN.
Since BMUN 71, the Alumni Scholarship has taken a different form. Instead of having students submit receipts and have their costs reimbursed at conference, we will be distributing financial aid in the form of a fixed amount disbursed before conference. This amount will be dependent on the distance that the student has to travel to attend BMUN.
In the event that a student is awarded a scholarship but does not attend BMUN 74 they must contact treasurer[at]bmun.org to arrange a return of disbursed funds. Failure to reach out by March 8th, 2026, will result in students from that school becoming ineligible for the Alumni Scholarship for the next 3 years.
Important Deadlines
September 23rd, 2025 - Alumni Scholarship Application is released and ready for submission.
December 21st, 2025 – Application deadline. Both the student application and School Advisor Recommendation form must be submitted.
January 3th, 2026 – All scholarship application decisions will be released by this date.
January 31st, 2025 – Scholarship acceptance deadline. If the student does not accept the scholarship by this date, it will be forfeited and not disbursed.
March 6th - March 8th, 2026 - BMUN 74 Conference. Scholarships will be awarded before this time.
March 8th, 2026 - Students who received financial aid but did not attend BMUN 74 must reach out to treasurer[at]bmun.org by this date to arrange a refund of the awarded amount.
In order for your scholarship application to be considered complete and for you to be considered for financial aid, both the student application and the School Advisor Recommendation form must be submitted by December 21st, 2025.
