Dear Advisors, Delegates, and Visitors,

It is with great excitement that I invite you to the BMUN in Brasília, the Berkeley Model United Nations Brazil Conference, taking place July 10–12, 2025. This conference marks a major milestone for our organization as BMUN hosts its first-ever conference in Brazil, expanding our global presence and bringing the academic excellence of UC Berkeley Model United Nations to a new international community.

Founded in 1952 by a small group of UC Berkeley students, Berkeley Model United Nations is the oldest Model United Nations organization in the world. For over seventy years, BMUN has been dedicated to fostering educational equity and empowering students, regardless of background, to think critically, speak confidently, and lead with empathy. Hosting a conference in Brazil represents our continued commitment to global engagement and inclusive dialogue across borders.

This conference is proudly held in partnership with Internationali Negotia, the leading organizer of Model United Nations conferences in Latin America for the past 26 years. Internationali Negotia’s longstanding dedication to academic excellence, delegate development, and impactful global education has shaped generations of Model UN participants across the region. Through this partnership, the experience, strengths, and shared values of both organizations come together to create a conference that is both academically rigorous and globally engaging.

BMUN in Brasília will feature five dynamic committees, guided by a Secretariat of UC Berkeley students who have spent the past year developing thoughtful committee topics on current global issues. 

Model United Nations offers students a unique opportunity to conduct meaningful research, engage in thoughtful collaboration, and discover confidence in their own voices. Whether this is your first Model UN conference or one of many, we hope BMUN in Brasília is a space where you feel challenged, inspired, and connected to a broader global community.
