Alumni Scholarship Guide

“Receiving BMUN’s Alumni Scholarship has been extremely influential to both my educational understanding and my personal growth. Having first attended BMUN as a high school student, I experienced firsthand the impact the conference can have on young delegates. Now, as an officer, I have the privilege of contributing to the same community that played an important role in my own development. This scholarship has supported me in continuing that journey and has made my experience with BMUN feel especially full circle.”

- Sarah H, BMUN 75 USG of Publications

The BMUN Secretariat is committed to ensuring that no delegate is excluded from BMUN due to financial constraints. As such, this year our Alumni Scholarship allocates $18,000 in financial aid to low-income students. Students can apply for this assistance to cover part of the cost of attending BMUN, including delegate fees, transportation, and hotel costs. The application will be considered on a per-delegate basis for one student. For BMUN LXXV, we have made changes to our scholarship program by incorporating past feedback in an effort to make our conference more accessible than ever. All students in need are strongly encouraged to apply.

In the application, we ask for information that demonstrates the student’s need for financial aid. All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will be used only for financial aid purposes.

In order for a scholarship application to be considered complete and for a delegate to be considered for financial aid, both the student application and the School Advisor Recommendation form must be submitted by December 19th, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Applications open on September 21st, 2026, 6:00 AM PST—and will be evaluated on a rolling basis. As such, we recommend that students submit an application as early as possible to allow sufficient time to finalize their travel plans. Upon submission of the application, please expect to hear back within two to three weeks. Once the application closes, all decisions will be made by January 4th, 2027. Awardees will then be contacted via email for instructions on how to receive the aid.

This year, please note that a predetermined sum calculated based on travel distance will be disbursed to awardees at BMUN LXXV conference. The category for which you qualify will be determined based on your school address, zip code, and state. Award amounts for international students will be calculated on the basis of distance in miles from Berkeley. The amounts are as follows:

Region (Distance from Berkeley) Maximum Amount Awarded
Northern California & Central Vallye Up to $385
Southern California Up to $585
Out of State: West (~1100 mi) Up to $635
Out of State: Central US & Midwest (~2200 mi) Up to $685
Out of State: East & Beyond (2200+ mi) Up to $735
